Free 5 Week Video Series on Nutrition in the First Year of life!
Here we are at week 2 already! Today we are doing an introduction, on introduction to solids. There is so much to cover this is just a few ideas to get you started.
Here is a breakdown of main content in case you want to skip to the part you are most interested in.
0- 2.50 minutes : when to start solids
2.50-4.39 minutes: between 6-12 months progressing from first foods to regular family meals fairly quickly. Also introducing concepts of puree and baby led weaning; using baby cues to decide which method works for your family.
4.39 minutes- 5.31 minutes: spoons and mess. The importance of mess in letting baby learn about food
5.31- 6.38 minutes: gradually introducing foods, where to start
6.38- 7.30: importance of getting in iron rich foods- what are iron rich foods?
7.30- 11.50: gradually introducing foods across the food groups discussion
11.50- 24.49: preparing baby foods kitchen demo
Next week, week 3 we will consider baby led weaning in more detail. Week 4 we will be talking about food allergy, what you need to look out for, where to get help if needed, and how to approach introduction to solids in a bubba who is at high risk of allergy. Finally in week 5 we will discuss common concerns and the role of a paediatric dietitian in addressing these nutritional concerns.
